Gibraltar stands sentinel.
It raises veined skull,
raises its head of
lice-ridden monkeys
tossing stones or coconuts,
its shadow turns
summer water chill;
through storm surge grayness,
through moon-specked night
it looms far huger
than any mythic monster,
it measures eternity.
